A million thoughts, a million dreams

doing nothing

I have a talent… It’s the ability to do nothing.

If you haven’t tried doing nothing, you’re seriously missing out. Everyone in this world wants to do everything there is to do.

Students want to crack IIT and MIT, professionals want to revolutionize their field of expertise, hell, the milkman, wants to increase his number of cows..

People have small dreams, big dreams, short-term goals, long-term goals, etc etc

The benefit of being a well fed only child in a non conservative Indian family, who has all his needs taken care of is this-

I can talk to you guy’s about doing nothing.

First of all, does this idea interest you? This idea of doing nothing? If you can’t even imagine it, you’re probably not gonna get this post.

Ok, so this is what doing nothing is…

You sit on your bed, with your back support the bed rest, and stare at something in the room…

Then you lie down, and start rubbing your head with a cushion. Keep turning, sideways and frontways for no reason, except momentarily comfort.

Then you see your phone blink, but decide to see it later as you’re too busy doing… nothing.

You’ve probably guessed it.. I’m lazy 😀

But being lazy is not the same as doing nothing..

Lazy people are often depressed with life, cause nothing happens to their liking. Everything is too difficult..

But the doing nothing people.. We plan in advance!

We’ll time ourselves, and prepare for our dive into the ocean of nothingness..

We’ll, get the blanket, get the headphones, get the phone, get the remote and get the course book

And oh.. We forgot the charger… No problem!

We’ll leave our cozy position, to go and get the charger, and even ask our family if they want some help, on our way back to nothing land.

Then once all things are sorted, we’ll once and for all sink into the depths of nothingness, and not use a single thing we’ve got with us.

While, doing nothing, I’m actually doing a lot of things..

The day summarizes in front of my eyes, distant memories awake, homework is remembered, accepted and forgotten..

Sometimes, I even transition into the realm of dreams, and then suddenly come back into this world of ironies.

It’s a beautiful state to be in, actually..

No stress, no pain, no anticipation..

Only everything in the form of nothing.

I’m aware of myself as an organism..

I’m aware of myself as a human

I’m aware of myself as a 3 dimensional being

I’m the universe and the universe is me…

And then it’s time to study..

wuddup homework? 😅

And that’s the biggest irony I think.

We’re so busy learning the world, knowing all there is to know, wanting to be the best in our respective fields, but we don’t even want to know ourselves..

We’ve come so far in the journey of evolution, but we can’t see ourselves as a species..

I am God, I am almighty, I am meant for greatness..

Who are you kidding? There are 10 billion people like you in this world..

Nothing you do is gonna make you any more or any less greater than those people.

The only thing that matters is whether you understand that, and still want to do something with your life.

Your life’s purpose is only as big as how big you dream it is..

Dream without inhibitions, dream without ambition, ignore the people that want to prepare you for the so called real world..

They’ll tell you , the real world is crooked..

They’ll tell you , the real world is unforgiving

Just know this..

The real world needs to change

and a change is on its way.

It’s up to you now, whether you block its path with conservative ideals, or welcome it with open arms.

All this I learned by doing nothing.

You should try it sometimes 😉

awesome post!! But it changes if you visualize with different peoples perspectives . The ideal one forms does not mean as you decide because waiting for a change to bring wont bring you aside ,

Love my time of doing nothing!

Reminded me of an Italian phrase I found in a book by Elizabeth Gilbert, ‘il bel far niente’ – which means the beauty of doing nothing. 🎈
