So you’re probably surprised to see me doing a post on such a grave issue, and to be honest i myself am surprised but, it’s important that I do this today..
I never stood up for a social cause, wasn’t bothered in the least.. Used to see the news now and again, talk about it with my family and then forget all about it.
You see, I hate negativity, rather I fear it. I love being happy and carefree, so I ignore this sort of stuff. However today is different…
I got a message from a woman, thanking me for signing her petition on change. Org. I don’t even remember signing her petition to be honest, but I went on to read further. The woman was molested as a child, by her sisters husband. This incident occurred on multiple occasions.
Like most children she was terrified and creeped out, by this man behaving with her in such a way, but she did not know what to do, and these incidents occurred till she turned 13. Later as an adult, she fully understood what had happened to her, and wanted to file a complaint against this man, but the police officials refused to file her complaint, as this incident had occurred long ago.
She did not give, however and started a petition on change. Org to create ammendments to the current law so that women like her, can get the justice they deserve. Today her petition has more than 1 lakh supporters, and she recently met Maneka Gandhi to discuss what she should do to get justice.
I do not know, how successful she was in this endeavor, but I do know, that getting the signatures of more than a lakh people who agree with her cause is no ordinary deed, and I am proud of her!
She asked me to sign her new petition, to maintain pressure on the government, so that her long fight can finally end with her success, and other victims of child molestation can hope for justice.
If you believe, what she’s doing is right, please support her by signing her petition and playing your own small part in bringing her justice.
If 1 click can help someone get justice, isn’t it worth it?
Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you guys soon!
